Cecilie Malm Brundtland and Anette Krosby together with Ina Astrup, Kristine Furuholmen, and Bjørn Rønneberg were the committee for this event all three years.
The main goal has been to create a community of friends and supporters of the museum. Another goal has been to fundraise and support the museum’s growing ambitions to bring important Norwegian and international contemporary art to a broad audience, and to develop the museum’s international exhibition program.
The evenings have taken the form of an exciting and enjoyable dinner at the Museum’s Kiefer Hall for more than 150 guests. During the dinner there have been auctioning art and experiential lots generously donated by gallerists, artists and individuals. The auctions have been conducted by Mark Poltimore and Alex Branczik from Sotheby’s in London, waiving their fees in support of the museum.
During these three years, the Astrup Fearnley Museet has received extremely generous support from artists and galleries and from friends far and wide. We interpreted this overwhelming support as a sign that the museum is a meaningful institution for many, and that we have managed to work for setting the basis for the creation of an engaged circle of long term supporters of Astrup Fearnley Museet.
During the three years, we have managed to raise approximately NOK 22 million.
